What we do

The WCCF’s mission is to give all children with cancer access to the best possible treatment and care, regardless of where in the world they live. In practice, this involves working with leading international organisations and professionals towards several key objectives:

• To raise awareness so that more children in low income countries are diagnosed and at the earliest possible stage, in time to allow treatment
• To support treatment programs which already exist so that they become sustainable
• To support new programs for specialised treatment and care, where they are needed most
• To improve support for children and their families – for example, Homes from Home projects. These offer families a place to stay near treatment units, giving them social, emotional and practical support
• To improve children’s quality of life, whatever the outcome. When treatment is not an option, then palliative care should be of the best possible quality – no child should suffer

Finally, all of the above are supported by one of our most important roles - the fund-raising that makes them viable.
